The Story of Yuki-Onna

In the Yuki-Onna short story I would like to discuss whether there is a just or equal balance of evil and good for both the main characters. When the two got married and fell in love I think this was a setup from the mystical lady to make sure that he wasn’t going to lie. I think that this is evil from the start because she was always following him to all places. He even got nightmare and thoughts about the past of what happened to him and her. I do think it was wrong for him to tell his secret even though it was her and this was also unjust of the man. So, I think those two wrongs should equal out. However, she then leaves him with a heavy burden of a family. I think this not just and evil. She did not kill him so there is some compassion she had where it was justified. However, it is not right or good for a human and witch to live together, so this causes an imbalance from the start. Whenever you put two forces that are completely opposite form each other evil and good will always be fighting each other. One or the other will want to take control and use it to gain power over the other persons life. So, in order for there to be good all around the witch has to come to understand that she does not belong to a human. They are from two separate worlds and frankly, love won’t work in their relationship.

If we talk about how the short story could be gothic, there are many times where the atmosphere becomes dark and chilly due to the women’s presence.  It is evident any time that he has thoughts about her and the atmosphere becomes dark with colors of pale blue, purple, and orange to set a ominous mood. The face of the women is very cold and demanding. When she turns to her witch self, she is harsh and not very compassionate.

It all starts out with Celia and Marco who are tied in love and they have a challenge ahead of themselves. Annihilation

Annihilation Something I think is weird about this film is the atmosphere for sure and the DNA that the dome has inside of it. What I mean by this is how the landscape is inside the dome where the volunteers go into to see what’s wrong. It is extremely colorful and has shapes and forms that are very unique. They form around the existing earth structure but eat away at it and forms its own nature. What I think is incredible is how the book talks in great detail about the color of the forms of the new landscape. This is the moss that covers everything. It has incredible neon colors that are so abstract to even imagine but very intense! The patterns that it creates and everything that it keeps inside of it is kind of gross but at the same time beautiful. It’s crazy because the new form that it creates is absolutely beautiful and very intrigue. Interview with A Vampire

It is quite interesting to see in the beginning that there are only a couple of vampires and then there leads to be more and more throughout the journeys of each vampire. The interactions with each vampire are quite interesting because there seems to follow a pattern of death and travel with each one. That is pretty much death and deception. I say this because the first time we see it is when Louis and Claudia plan on killing Lestat. Why would they do this? It could be hatred toward Lestat for making her something she didn’t want to be. Another time we see this pattern is when Lestat comes back from the dead to kill them. This is number 2 for an attempt to kill because of spite possibly. The third time this happens is when Louise and Claudia move to another place but don’t like it. This time the pattern is to keep traveling. This continues on and on throughout the books.
