The Martian
The Martian
We see that Mark gets
stuck on another planet called and Mars and how this ties into the context of
an imagined future is how he deals with his crisis when everything goes wrong.
So with fiction, we
understand that going to Mars is not an option yet and for this book to set the
entire atmosphere on that planet is stretching that idea but fits perfectly
with this genre. So we are asked about imagined future and this scenario is
perfect because number 1.) Mars is habitable 2.) We don’t have the tools to go
there. 3.) We are not ready or equipped for such a crazy mission. All this
plays into the idea of the “future.” This is obvious in the novel because if
anything goes wrong, he didn’t really have what it took to survive. So as
always with something that is not planned, the character has to improvise and
make due of what he has. This is very typical in a fiction story when something
goes wrong.
