Lets start off by saying this a bizarre reading and wow! But I enjoyed it! The whole reading is very out there and not plausible in any way. That is my own opinion. There are some aspects to this reading that has some imagined future but it’s hard because it is very abstract and really has no story line but that is not a bad thing.

Since I picked out a very specific and gross reading I won’t go into details but say some things that could refer to an imagined future. Since there is a God, Satan, and Grim Reaper present, this itself makes for a imagined future. We know that there is no Grim Reaper and that they all work together to make a new world. The books also talks about destroying cities and wiping out humans and creating a new world.

It all starts out with Celia and Marco who are tied in love and they have a challenge ahead of themselves. Annihilation

Annihilation Something I think is weird about this film is the atmosphere for sure and the DNA that the dome has inside of it. What I mean by this is how the landscape is inside the dome where the volunteers go into to see what’s wrong. It is extremely colorful and has shapes and forms that are very unique. They form around the existing earth structure but eat away at it and forms its own nature. What I think is incredible is how the book talks in great detail about the color of the forms of the new landscape. This is the moss that covers everything. It has incredible neon colors that are so abstract to even imagine but very intense! The patterns that it creates and everything that it keeps inside of it is kind of gross but at the same time beautiful. It’s crazy because the new form that it creates is absolutely beautiful and very intrigue. Akata Witch

Akata Witch In the beginning we see that there is a young girl who finds out she is a witch with the help of others. In terms of archetypes, I do think that this book resembles quite a bit of Harry Potter attributes. Such as the young girl having needing help to find out she is a witch other and in Harry Potter is also different from everyone else and Hogwarts help him get into the magic world. Sonny also builds some great friends while she is finding out who she is and what she is going to do with her magic. The same thing goes for Harry Potter he undergoes a ton of challenges finding out what his mission his and who he really is. In a culture of recognizing the need for female empowerment, Akata could have some ties with this idea in our day and age. With her struggle to find out how to use her powers to her best advantage and for others, the same is for women today.
